UPPER ELEMENTARY SUMMER READING 2018

Dear Students,

Hi!  We hope you are having a great summer vacation.  We wanted to let you know our choice for summer reading this year.

We have chosen the book, Be a Perfect Person in Just Three Days by Stephen Manes. As you read the book, please complete the attached book report "information gathering" form.  Please use extra lined paper as necessary.  Bring in both, your book and completed form, on Monday, August 13, 2018.

We will use these sheets to compile a book report as a group during the first three weeks of school.  This report will then be put in your binder and will be used as a "go-by" for future book reports.  (Note: The book may be borrowed from the library or they may be purchased at Barnes and Noble or on Amazon.)

This does not mean that this is the only book you have to read this summer.  We encourage you to read as much as you can.  Keep track of any books that you have read (title, author, publishing details, and a recommendation explaining why (or why not) you think anyone should read the book) and bring it to school for sharing.

In addition to the reading assignment, we would like to have each new student know the addition, subtraction, and multiplication tables (1-9) by rote.

We look forward to seeing everyone in August and hearing about your summer adventures.

All our best,

Mrs. LeRoux
